  • IAOS New Masjid & Community Centre

IAOS New Masjid and Community Centre

Our second application for a New Masjid and Community Centre on Arcola Avenue / Highway 33 within the Rural Municipality (RM) of Sherwood was denied by the RM Council last month.
In anticipation of this, the IAOS Board had been working on development of new options within the city of Regina, for the site of a new Masjid and Community Centre, since the beginning of its term in October 2016. IAOS Board also received valuable advice from the community members in February 2017 on this important initiative. Based on this, the Board developed three options for the new Masjid and Community Centre and presented them to IAOS members in an Extraordinary General Body Meeting held on May 22, 2017.  Alhamdullilah, the IAOS members authorized the Board to acquire a property located at 525 12th Avenue, Regina (off Victoria Avenue) to develop a new IAOS Masjid and Community Centre.
Before pursuing to purchase the 12th Avenue property the IAOS Board intends to take the Community into confidence about the Site. For this purpose all Community members are invited to learn about this opportunity.
The meeting schedule is as follows:
Date & Time:  Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:00 PM
Venue: IAOS Masjid (3273 Montague Street, Regina, SK)
We request all community members to attend this important meeting.
    Jazak Allah Khair

  • Ijazah Program

IAOS has introduced the Ijazah program in teaching Quran for whoever is a strong Hafiz with proper Tajweed. Our Imam Sheikh Mohamed will provide the Ijazah on behalf of IAOS.

What is an Ijazah in Quran?

It is a certificate, given by a qualified Qari of the Quran and Tajweed, with an Isnaad (Chine of reliable narrators), from me up to the Prophet (PBUH).

    Conditions of granting an Ijazah:

    1)   Reciting the whole Quran from Al Fatiha to Al Nas, from the student’s own memorization.

    2)   The whole Quran must be 100% accurate and proper with Tajweed without any mistakes.

    3)   Memorizing Matn (Poem) المقدمة الجزرية in Tajweed by Imam Ibn Al Jazri and understanding its meaning.

    4)   The student must be trained and qualified to teach others after he is granted his Ijaza.

The importance of the Ijazah program:

InshAllah the Muslim Community in Regina will have (qualified) Huffaz that we can trust to lead Taraweeh and teach Quran whenever is needed.
