Citizen Advisory Committee for Federal Corrections looking for a Volunteer
The following is a message from Regina’s Citizen Advisory Committee for Federal Corrections.
“Citizens Advisory Committees are mandated by the Federal Government at each Federal Correctional Site across Canada. We bring a community perspective to Federal Corrections. We observe within correctional institutions and parole offices. We liase with staff, offenders, the general public and other organizations interested in public safety. We connect with senior leaders in the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and provide advice on programs, policies and issues related to federal corrections. We bring a strong public voice to corrections and make a difference in our communities.
We strive to be a broad cross section of the community who give their opinions to the Correctional Service of Canada. We would like to encourage people from the Muslim Community to join our local Citizens Advisory Committee.
Our Prairie Region is geographically vast, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Northwestern Ontario. This area is home to nine federal institutions, three healing lodges, one women’s institution, one psychiatric centre and 16 parole offices.
Our Committee, the Citizens Advisory Committee meets once a month, currently at lunch time 12:00. Lunch is supplied.”
