  • Iʿtikāf ( اعتكاف ) at IAOS Masjid

    Insha’Allah the I’tikaf for this year will be started on March 30th, 2024 (Night of 21st Ramadan) and will be ended on April 9th, 2024.

    IAOS Regina is inviting interested community members to submit their interests on I’tikaf at IAOS Masjid by filling out the following form (the link below) by March 27, 2024.

    Minimum age limit is 12 years. IAOS will accept maximum 20 people among the applicants who will be invited to submit a formal application with the supporting documents by March 29, 2024.

    Job Detail:

    Islamic Association of Saskatchewan (IAOS), Regina is seeking an experienced and qualified Quran Hifz Teacher for our Full-Time Quran Hifz Program. The teacher should be hardworking and enthusiastic, dedicated to nurturing children in the memorization of the Quran.
    The full-time position will involve teaching a group of students (ages from 6 to 16 years), who are working towards memorizing the Holy Quran. The students will memorize the Quran, including review, over a three-year term.  The applicant will be a motivated individual with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and living the Quran. The teacher will work full-time for the Quran Hifz Program.
    Responsibilities:
     
    • Prepare course long-range plan, Hifz plans and homework materials.
    • Teach Quran Hifz and Tajweed
    • Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety within classroom.
    • Formal and informal ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports, and marking.
    • Integrate social responsibility, kindness, and other Islamic values into daily teaching and routines.
    • Supervise students in classes.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
    • Discuss students’ progress and concerns with parents and administration.
    • Incorporate appropriate technology and media in lesson planning.

    Qualifications:

    • experienced Quran Hifz teacher
    • very good at nurturing children
    • excellent with the Quran in terms of memorization and Tajweed
    • Nice to have an Ijazah
    • reliable and dedicated individual
    • able to manage a class of a group of students.
    • very good knowledge on Islamic faith and practice
    • able to communicate in English and knowledge about social contexts of Canadian society.
    • can help students understand some of the meanings of the Quran
    • works well in a team environment.
    • strong Islamic character with good communication, organizational and leadership abilities

  • Bi-Weekly New Mosque Update from Project Team – October 12, 2023

    The contractor has completed digging and filling piles on which the Mosque floor will rest. With the filling of 219 piles, the pile work is now complete Alhamdolillah. The next step is foundation work (Grade Beam), on which the Mosque walls will rest. Steel for foundation has been arriving on site for the last few days and work will commence early next week In sha Allah.

    The civil works contractor is also on site and work is commencing on the underground Civil Works. This includes water, sewer and storm water lines and several other underground civil works components.

    On the building side of things, IAOS has applied to the City of Regina at the end of September, for a building shell permit. A response is expected from the City of Regina within next week. The structural steel work and masonry work drawings have also been issued to potential contractors simultaneously to get quotations. Bids closing date for this work is October 19, 2023, after which the contractors for structural steel and masonry works will be selected.

    The Project Team is also working with the Architect to finalize interior design concept. These details will be finalized soon In sha Allah, and a presentation will be made to the Board for approval of interior design concept.

    IAOS New Mosque Project Team

  • Bi-Weekly As-Salam Mosque Project Update – September 28, 2023

    The foundation contractor has completed earth excavation. The next step is pile work, on which the Mosque floor will rest. Pile steel has been arriving on site for the last few days and pile cages are being made. Pile installation work will commence early next week In sha Allah.

    IAOS has awarded a contract for civil works. This includes water, sewer and storm water lines and several other underground civil works components. This work is also going to commence in a few days In sha Allah. IAOS has also awarded the contract for the elevator, so as to incorporate elevator specifications at the design stage.

    On the building design side of things, IAOS has received the final mechanical, structural and electrical drawings. IAOS is also applying to the City of Regina in a day or two, for building shell permit. These drawings have also been issued to potential contractors simultaneously to get quotations and start the process of selecting contractors for framing, electrical and mechanical work.

    The Project Team is also working with the Architect to finalize interior design concept. These details will be finalized soon In sha Allah, and a presentation will be made to the Board for approval of interior design concept.

  • Bi-Weekly As-Salam Mosque Project Update – September 14, 2023

    Alhamdolillah, the construction work on the As-Salam Mosque Project commenced during the first week of September 2023. Praise be to Allah swt for bestowing us this joyous occasion.

    The contractor has begun earth excavation. The next step is pile work, on which the Mosque floor will rest, which is going to commence in a few days. The Project Team has also recommended to the Board awarding a contract for civil works. This includes water, sewer and storm water lines and several other civil works components. Once approved the Civil Works contractor will also be on site very soon. The Project Team has also finalized recommendation for the elevator. While the elevator is one of the last items to be installed, the contractor must be chosen now to ensure design is prepared to meet elevator specifications.

    On the building design side of things, IAOS has received the final building drawings. Mechanical, structural and electrical drawings are also expected in the next few days. IAOS will apply to the City of Regina soon after that, for permit, Insha Allah. These drawings will also be issued to potential contractors simultaneously to get quotations and start the process of selecting contractors for framing, electrical and mechanical work.

    The Project Team is also awaiting final interior design concept from the Architects. These details will be finalized in September Insha Allah, and a presentation will be made to the Board for approval of interior design concept.
