On March 26, 2020, the Government of Saskatchewan released a new Public Health Order that prohibits gatherings of more than ten people and requires all non-essential services to close. Places of worship, such as the Masjid, were not listed as essential services, and therefore the IAOS Masjid must close.
Despite the previous notice announcing the closure of the Masjid, worshippers are continuing to pray at the Masjid. This can result in legal and financial consequences for the IAOS, and it also endangers the health and safety of the community. As a result, the Masjid will now be locked. The Masjid will remain locked until the Saskatchewan government announces that the Public Health Order is lifted.
Jumm’a Khutba and Halaqas will continue to be streamed online. Please visit the IAOS website for more information and links to view the Khutba and Halaqas.

Assalamu Alaikum,
At the recommendation of the Canadian Council of Imams (CCI) and the Muslim Medical Association of Canada (MMAC) – ALL congregational activities will be suspended at the IAOS Masjid until further notice to exercise caution against Coronavirus (COVID-19). (Please refer to the attached document) and CCI Facebook page.
There will be NO Jummah Salat, NO daily congregational prayers, and NO Islamic or Hifz classes until further notice.
We will continue to monitor the situation and recommence activities in the IOAS Masjid once appropriate health authorities indicate the threat level is acceptable.
Please exercise extreme caution in your personal interactions and follow the advice of the medical authorities.
We implore all of you to have patience while the situation unfolds.
May Allah forgive us if we have made mistakes in judgement and have mercy on all of us (AMEEN).
JazakAllah khair
Munir Haque,
President, Islamic Association of Saskatchewan, Regina Inc.
