Quebec City Mosque Massacre Anniversary

Quebec City Mosque Massacre Anniversary
On January 29 2017, a gunman opened fire in the Islamic Cultural Centre in Québec City, killing six brothers while they were praying: Mamadou Tanou Barry, Ibrahima Barry, Khaled Belkacemi, Abdelkrim Hassane, Azzeddine Soufiane, and Aboubaker Thabti رحمه الله .

Regina’s “Making Peace Vigil” is a group of concerned citizens who hand out pamphlets on peace and justice issues at the corner of Scarth Street and 11th Avenue on a weekly basis (they have not missed a week since May 2007!). On Thursday January 25th at 12:00 – 12:30pm, they will be standing in solidarity to remember the victims of the Québec City Mosque Massacre, and will hand out pamphlets on Islamophobia in Canada and its consequences. All are welcome to join.

The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), with the support of over 70 Canadian Muslim associations and organizations and over two-dozen community partners, recently wrote to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking his government to designate January 29th as a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Islamophobia. Please join their effort by signing up here.
